An identity for an interior architecture studio working across residential, commercial, hospitality and turnkey projects — a system that frames the work it presents rather than competing with it.

NARA — Interior architecture identity · Design

Project Overview

NARA is an interior architecture studio in Istanbul producing pieces and spaces where refined design meets craftsmanship. The hardest part of branding a design studio is that everything around the brand — the materials, the furniture, the light — is already beautiful, so any loud mark becomes a visual tax on the work.

The Challenge

Interior architecture studios fall into a recurring trap: an identity that tries to be as beautiful as the projects, and so competes with them for attention. And because the work is shown against wildly different grounds — stone, wood, concrete, planting — the mark has to stay legible on all of them.

Strategic Thinking

NARA's position is not "the most beautiful design" but "design that lasts": pieces that give a space a character which outlives the trend. From that came the central decision — a neutral, highly disciplined mark that works as a frame rather than a picture, earning its presence through consistency rather than ornament.

  1. A geometric mark built on explicit triangular forms with a macron that gives it a signature recognisable even at very small size.

  2. A neutral four-colour palette documented in HEX, RGB and CMYK, because materials in this sector are printed and fabricated, not only shown on screen.

  3. Writing placement rules for grounds of different texture — stone, metal, concrete, glass — rather than settling for a clear-space rule alone.

Brand Positioning

We positioned NARA on permanence: "Crafted for Spaces" and "Designed around you" are not marketing lines but descriptions of a method — from concept to completion, designed around the person who lives in the space rather than around the photograph of the project.

Identity System Logic

The mark works in black on light and white on dark, with a compact lockup for tight applications. It was tested fabricated in relief on a building facade, engraved on a card, and reduced to an app icon — three tests no mark relying on fine detail survives.

Visual Language

The palette is deliberately neutral: soft white, jet black, stone grey and sand beige — colours taken from the building materials themselves rather than applied over them. That makes any project photograph sit with the brand automatically, whatever its materials.

Colour system

  • Soft White #F5F6F7
  • Jet Black #0D0D0D
  • Stone Grey #5A5D5F
  • Sand Beige #E7E0D6

Design System

The system was delivered for a studio that presents, sells and builds: stationery and business cards, site hoardings and project boards, building facade signage, a website, app screens, and exhibition and showroom materials.

  • Geometric mark in two lockups
  • Palette documented in HEX/RGB/CMYK
  • Stationery and business cards
  • Site and facade signage
  • Website design
  • App interface screens
  • Art direction for photography

Outcome & Impact

The brand now works as a frame for the studio's work rather than a rival to it: present in every piece, and never pulling attention from the space it was made to present.
